Foot/Ankle Injuries

Fractures

Foot and Ankle

These injuries are very common and usually involve trauma. Stress fractures are common injuries in runners, and ankle fractures are the most frequent fractures afflicting active individuals. Most fractures can be treated with immobilization in a cast or cam walker boot. Severe injuries require surgery and a period of immobilization.

Tendonitis

Achilles, Peroneal, and tibial tendons may cause pain and be very debilitating. Podiatric and Orthopaedic care include physical therapy, orthotics, immobilization and surgery. Radiographic assessment of foot alignment is critical in correctly diagnosing and treating these conditions.

Ankle Arthroscopy

Minimally invasive technique of diagnosing and treating cartilage and ligament problems within the ankle. As diagnostic imaging has advanced the ability to diagnose these injuries, indications for arthroscopy have grown. This procedure involves several tiny incisions and a small camera accompanied by shavers and instruments used to treat injured cartilage and bone spurs.
